Hartford Fire Applicants Divided Into Groups The Hartford, Conn., board of fire commissioners decided at its meeting on June 19 to form groups of fifty of the applicants for positions as firemen. The men will appear before the board at its regular meetings in these groups of fifty to be considered for appointment. A contract for laying an underground cable at the new fire house, now being erected, was awarded to the Hazard Manufacturing Company. Wilkesbarre, Pa., wnose bid was $2,937,50. The contract for building a fence around the house to cost $620 was also awarded.
