Determining Value of Property Involved at Fires To the Editor: A question has arisen in our department as to what principles are involved in arriving at property values for fire report purposes. As an instance, we respond to a fire call at a large hotel the value of which is estimated at one million dollars. Upon arrival we find a small fire in the kitchen due to grease overspilling on stove, and quickly extinguish it. The actual damage is only the loss of the grease. On our fire report we are instructed to state value of property involved. Just how could this be stated ? Your reply is awaited with great interest.…
