Recent New York Fire Department Activities Fire Commissioner Drennan on June 28 promoted one engineer and five firemen to the rank of lieutenant. Those promoted will be assigned to new companies to take effect July 1. The Rev. Father Edward P. Costello has been selected by Bishop Molloy of the Brooklyn Roman Catholic diocese to be fire chaplain for the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, in place of the Rev. Father Richard H. Hamilton, who has been sent to blast Elmhurst to create a new parish there. Father Costello has been appointed officially by the fire commissioner. He was an army chaplain during the war and is fitted for his new duties. The passing of Father Hamilton as fire chaplain has caused many regrets, as he was particularly active in that capacity.
