Heavy Fire Losses Continue At this time when the whole nation has been thinking of Fire Prevention and the country’s enormous fire losses during Fire Prevention Week, the fact that the damage by fire in September exceeded that of August by over four million dollars will be significant. Next week at the convention of the fire chiefs of the country, which meets in Richmond, Ya., no doubt much attention will be paid to the matter of ways and means to bring about a reduction of these losses, which are sapping the vitality of the nation and destroying its resources. The year 1923 promises to be a record one as regards heavy losses, and this in spite of the great advances both in Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention and the bringing of these subjects before the public. The total amount of fire losses for September were $31,401,900 against $27,204,675 in August.…
