Philadelphia’s High Pressure Extension Urged The Philadelphia, Pa., chamber of commerce has made an appeal to the city officials and the city council to extend the high pressure fire system to Market Street west of Broad Street at the earliest possible moment. This is the result of the members of the fire prevention and insurance committee making a study of the disastrous fires west of Broad Street, which culminated in the destruction of the Broad Street Station trainshed in the early part of the summer. According to the committee, with the rapid erection of new and. costly structures there is always danger of large and destructive fires and steps should he taken to protect this valuable section. Volunteer Fire Department Organized—Eight men with William Griswold as chief, compose the newly organized fire department of Robinson. Ill.
