Some Unusual Accidents in Indianapolis Louis Lauth. a member of Flying Squad No. 1 of the Indianapolis, Ind., fire department, was killed October 7 while answering an alarm on the north side of the city. The squad was going north on Meridian Street and at Pratt Street, where there is a “mushroom” signal light which was not burning, the squad hit the signal light causing Lauth’s head to strike the chemical tank on the apparatus and fracturing his skull. A passing taxi was hailed by other members of the squad and Lauth was taken to the hospital where he died in fifteen minutes. The accident happened at 3 :45 a. in. The fire did $5,450 damage to two frame dwellings with shingle roofs.
