New Central Fire Station for Portland, Me. Ground was broken on October 8, for a new central fire station for Portland, Me., which is to cost $110,000. The building, which is to be erected on the site of the present central station, will be two stories in height with a frontage of 90 feet and a depth of 80 feet and will be set back 30 feet from the street line. There will be six doors for apparatus. The first floor will house two pumpers, one 80-foot aerial, one cityservice truck and chemical car and a chief’s car. The repair shop will be located in the rear of the first floor.
