The New Gilson Nozzle Fire Chiefs showed unusual interest at the Richmond Convention in the new Gilson bent pipe with back pressure hook, a nozzle that makes it possible to reach with ease and effectiveness the hard-to-get-at fires. The hook feature makes the nozzle adaptable to numerous fire-fighting uses, a few of which are illustrated on this page. The nozzle, manufactured by the National Pipe Bending Co., New Haven, Conn., is the invention of a practical fireman, John Gilson, who for ten years was a member of the Newark, N. J., fire department.
