Commence Constructing San Leandro Dam The East Bay Water Company has taken preliminary steps in the construction of the $3,000,000 upper San Leandro, Cal., wafer development projects, according to an announcement by George H. Wilhelm, vice-president of the company. The project includes the construction of an earthen dam 185 feet high and 656 feet long at the crest, forming a reservoir with more than 16 billion gallons capacity, a supply tunnel through the East Oakland hills, a modern rapid sand filtration plant and a tunnel more than one and one-quarter miles in length which will have a cross-sectional area of about 30 square feet, sufficient to permit a flow of about 100 million gallons of water daily.
