John J. Eagan Dead John Joseph Eagan, the president of the American Cast Iron Pipe Company, Birmingham, Ala., died on March 30 at the age of 54 years. Mr. Eagan always held a controlling interest in this company and became its president in 1905, serving until 1914, when he released active control of the business and became chairman of the board of directors. In 1921, however, Mr. Eagan again took up the reins of the president’s office and instituted policies of industrial government in the company’s affairs, placing the active conduct of the business in the hands of the board of management, composed of the heads of the more important departments of the organization, in addition to providing for the election of a board of operatives of the workers, to act as a means of direct cooperation between them and the management.
