Proposed New Spartanburg Water System The water commissioners of Spartanburg, S. C., are exercising options on property eleven miles north of the city for the purpose of establishing a new water source to take care of a population of fifty thousand. The present population of Spartanburg is 25,000, and it is estimated that a plant pumping five to six million gallons of water per day will take care of the needs of the city for at least twenty years hence. The plans for the new system are so laid out that the capacity can be increased to 48,000,000 gallons per day. In July an educational campaign will be waged through various clubs and civic organizations to get the citizens to sign petitions authorizing a bond issue election to vote the necessary bond to establish the new water source.
