Western New York Firemen Meet The Western New York volunteer firemen’s convention held in Williamsville the last week in July was attended by over 3,000 firemen from Lockport. Niagara Falls, Leroy, Akron and other towns in this territory. Forty-three companies were represented in the parade held on July 30 which despite the heavy downpour of rain was an enthusiastic demonstration. The parade was headed by C. C. Baker, marshal. He was followed by Major C. R. Herman: E. H. Hutchinson, Buffalo bankers: the 174th regiment band, village trustees of Williamsville, members of the town board, officers of the association and visiting chiefs. The parade which consisted of seven divisions passed the village hall where village officials reviewed the procession, later presenting sixteen trophies to qualifying companies or individuals. Frank Kaminski, Eggertsville. received a prize as the tallest man, measuring si xfeet four. The Albion hose company was considered the best…
