Slight Reduction in September Fire Losses The record of fire losses in the United States and Canada for September as compiled in the offices of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING show a falling off of over $2,000,000 compared to that of August. On the other hand there were more fires of $10,000 loss or over than there were in the previous month, there being six more such fires during September. This shows a continuation of the general tendency of a reduction in losses that has been noticeable since the first of the year. The fire loss amounts for the nine months of 1924 are as follows: The totals for the nine months for the three years as shown in the table reveal a remarkable state of affairs in that 1923 and 1924 balance almost exactly, there being less than a million dollars difference in the amount so far.
