TEN FIRE DEPARTMENTS ASSIST IN FIGHTING PAPER MILL BLAZE Big Blaze in Piermont Conrern’s Mill Gives Fire-Fighters Hard Tussle—Other Departments Offer Help-Burnings of the Week AFTER causing a damage of about $800,000 a fire that threatened to destroy the $2,000,000 plant of the Piermont, N. Y., mills of the Robt. Gair Paper Co., was brought under control after a nine hour fight by the combined efforts of the plant fire department and Piermont fire department assisted by the fire departments of nine nearby towns. The blaze started about 5:30 P. M., Thursday evening, October 23. The true origin is not known but it is thought that it was caused by a short circu it in the motor of a loader engaged in loading a freight car with stock.
