The Law of Eminent Domain The very clear and interesting exposition of the Massachusetts law of eminent domain, as published on page 1401 of this week’s issue will be found of service to water works men throughout the country. While the writer, who is a well known attorney, deals primarily with this universal law as interpreted in the state of Massachusetts, his explanation of its provisions and its workings are so clear and understandable, that they can be very largely applied to the statutes on the subject of other states. The law as placed on the statute books of Massachusetts is looked upon as a model of its kind and no doubt will form a precedent in assisting other states which have not as yet codified their laws on the subject of eminent domain, and Mr. Nichols’s article on the subject should provide some excellent hints in following up this…
