CORRESPONDENCE Uses Yellow and Black for Hydrants and Yellow for Fire Alarm Box Posts To the Editor: Springfield Village has always used the customary red for hydrant painting. But about three months ago we made a radical change, using black for the barrel, and all above this part of the hydrant, with the exception of the nut on top, which was painted black, we painted with “hydrant yellow.” Another important change inaugurated at the same time was the painting of all of the posts on which were located fire alarm boxes this same shade of yellow, up to the height of six or seven feet, the boxes being maintained in the usual fire red.
