PUMPING STATION FIRE PROTECTION The protection of the pumping station against fire is frequently overlooked entirely or not given the attention that it deserves. So vital a feature in the communities, fire fighting equipment should be carefully studied and given all of the protection that is practicable. Most plants are not absolutely fire proof and could not be made so without completely rebuilding but many can be improved at small expense. The writer has in mind one particular plant which is typical. The pumping station consisted of a brick building with several brick additions. The main building housed the boiler room and engine room. It had pressed steel ceilings and a corrugated steel roof supported on steel trusses. A brick wall extended the full height of the building separating the boiler and engine rooms.
