Fire Alarm Notes George Cooley, superintendent of the fire alarm system of New Britain. Conn., is receiving congratulations from his many friends in New England on the anniversary of his fortyninth year as a member of the department in that city. On July 1 Supt. Cooley rounded out forty-nine years of service and is now anxious to make it an even half century of duty to his city. Supt. Cooley, while not born in New Britain, has seen that city grow to its present importance. He came to New Britain from Philadelphia, his birthplace, on February 19, 1869, and joined the fire department in 1883. He has always been interested in firemanic matters. While a youngster at Germantown, Pa., he distinctly remembers the days when Philadelphia was protected by volunteer service and had only hand drawn apparatus.
