Thieves Scared by Fire Bell

Issue 4 and Volume 78.

Thieves Scared by Fire Bell Burglars who had broken through a brick wall between two stores in White Plains, N. Y., and who were about to open up the safe in the drug store, were frightened away, it is believed, by a fire bell which rang for a fire in the vicinity of that store. In their haste, the burglars left a complete set of safe breakers’ tools. A finger-print expert attached to the sheriff’s office examined the safe for evidence and the police favor the belief that it was the same ones who broke into a station of the New Haven Railroad.
