New York Has New High Pressure System Preceding the annual dinner of the Rockaway Board of Trade, Mayor Hylan turned on the water for the new high pressure system for the fifth ward, Queens, at Beach 116th street, Rockaway Park, N. Y., on July 4. The section is to be served by two thirty-six inch mains which are being laid so as to form a loop to insure a constant supply in the event that one of the mains will have to be shut down for repairs. In the fifth ward the mains vary from 20 inches to 30 inches in diameter. The present mains are connected to the city’s 72-inch main in the fourth ward, and follows the Rockaway Turnpike thence by various streets to Beach 148th street.
