Long Beach, Cal., Has Good Record The city of Long Beach, Cal., was fortunate during the past year in having the low fire loss for the year of $62,000 for a population of 100,000. Chief Craw is particularly lauditory in his comments in reference to the fire prevention bureau. The department’s first aid bureau has been partly responsible for the record that no bather drowned during the past season. The matter of the fire department catching up with the growth of the city was brought up at a recent meeting and the matter of the enlargement of the fire alarm system was emphasized. About one hundred more fire alarm boxes, it is believed, are needed. The matter of the construction of additional fire stations is also being considered. Long Beach claims the honor of having the first piece of motorized fire apparatus on the Pacific Coast.
