Bridgeport Captain Dies The Bridgeport, Conn., fire department lost one of its most efficient fire fighters on May 8 when Captain Michael J. Dailey of Truck Company No. 1 of that city died in St. Vincent’s hospital following the amputation of his left leg just below the knee. Captain Dailey, the oldest captain in the service at Bridgeport, was injured on May 4 when he was hurled from the platform of the aerial truck while the apparatus was responding to an alarm in the west end section of the city. When Captain Dailey fell he partially landed on both feet, the left One being crushed by the wheel of the heavy truck. Gangrene set in while Captain Dailey was at the hospital and the foot u’as amputated above the ankle. The veteran fireman died six hours after the operation.
