Firemen’s Day at Sesqui-Centennial

Firemen’s Day at Sesqui-Centennial October 5 has been set aside as Firemen’s Day in the observance of the Sesqui-Centennial which will he held in Philadelphia, Pa., from June 1 to December 1 in commemoration of the 150th birthday of the Nation. On Firemen’s Day, there will be demonstrations of fighting fires and of the different types of fire apparatus. In addition the convention of the International Association of Fire Fighters will bring 350 delegates from 264 cities. The Philadelphia fire department is working with the chamber of commerce to assure adequate hotel arrangements. Nearly $24,000,000 contributed from federal, state, municipal and private sources will be expended to make the exposition, one of lasting value. The site which is located in the southern section of the city may be said to include 2,000 acres, being adiacent to the U. S. Navy Yard which will be open to visitors during the exposition.
