California Firemen Hold Convention More than five hundred firemen from ninety-five departments attended the annual convention of the California State Firemen’s Association at Long Beach on August 19 to 21. Two proposed bills were drafted at the convention for presentation at the state legislature, the text of which follow. One of them provides for a two per cent tax on all foreign insurance companies doing business in the state for the support of the firemen’s pension fund. A bill to provide for fire prevention is also planned. The championship baseball game between Los Angeles, Fresno, and Pasadena was won by Pasadena. There were many interesting exhibits and demonstrations at the convention. The next gathering will be held in Stockton, at a date to be announced later.
