Salting New Hay Prevents Fire When storing hay in barn or stack, we find it good practice to use a ten-quart pail of salt, no lumps, to each load. Scatter it thoroly, after the load has been placed in mow or stack, the same as the old method of broadcasting grain. Be sure to crush all lumps, as they will not dissolve. This practice will not only make the hay more palatable, but it will prevent it from heating, and is good insurance against fire by spontaneous combustion.—The Dairy Farmer.
