Modern Ways Cause English Fires According to a survey conducted by insurance companies, the Americanization of English country homes is responsible for the number of such buildings that have been destroyed by fire in recent years. Steam heating and electricity has been brought into these old buildings. It has been stated that the flues of these old homes were not constructed to withstand the heat generated by big furnaces. The damage in 1926 to English country homes amounted to about $43,000,000.
