Chicago Seeks Large Bond Issue Whether Chicago will go ahead with contemplated plans and improve the fire department assisted by a proposed $1,725,000 bond issue will be decided on April 20 at the city election. Actually the voters will be asked to consider a $7,825,000 issue of which the fire department will get the lion’s share. Some time ago a survey was made of the department and an expenditure of $4,352,981 was recommended for the erection of new fire stations and reconditioning others. With the money sought in the bond issue and the $500,000 left over from a previous bond issue, officials believe that they can make a good start towards having the necessary improvements.
