New York Volunteers Have Convention The Southern New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association held a three-day convention at Rockawav Beach, L. L. N. Y. George Salon of Hollis, N. Y. heads the association. Addresses were given by Alfred Kennedy. New York State Senator, and Rev. Joseph R. Alten, of Sea Cliff, L. I. prominent in volunteer firemen’s organizations. Hoffman, Noted Nassau County Fireman, Dead—George H. Hoffman, for several years chairman of the contest committee of the Nassau County, L. I., N. Y., Firemen’s Association, died at the age of sixty-two following an operation. Sioux City Salary Question Sidetracked Die Sioux City. Ia., city council has shelved an ordinance providing for a salary increase for the firemen. The previous city council dropped the matter on two different occasions, it is believed that no further action will be taken until some means of financing the proposed raise has been presented.
