July Fourth Precautions Urged More, than half a year ago in St. Louis occurred a tragedy to whicn Miss Frances Perkins, the Industrial Commissioner of New York, is now calling the attention of the novelty trade in anticipation of preparations for the coming Fourth of July. this was the fire in a five and ten cent store in which four children lost their lives, when sparks from a broken electric wire touched off a fire-works display. It is to prevent the possible repetition of such tragedies this year that the head of the New York State Labor Department now recalls it to all persons connected with commercial preparations for Fourth of July celebrations. She has issued orders to the mercantile inspection bureau of the Labor Department to pay particular attention to establishments selling fireworks, and is urging all persons in any wise responsible for the manufacture or sale of fireworks…
