Names are omitted from questions unless otherwise specified Utilizing Sprinkler Equipment To the Editor: The influence of your magazine is too important to let your answer appearing in the February, 1932, issue under the heading of “Questions and Answers,” go by unchallenged. It is our experience that fire departments are not taking advantage of the effectiveness of automatic sprinklers in extinguishing fires. The building in question is, without doubt, open joist construction which would require approximately 80 sprinkler heads per floor. Unless the sprinkler equipment was shut off the fire described should not open more than one-fourth of the heads on each floor, these being the ones immediately around the elevator shaft.
