Montana to Standardize Hose Threads The Montana State Legislature has passed a bill authorizing the State Fire Marshal to proceed at once to standardize hose couplings and fire hydrant fittings. Two sets of tools for recutting the threads will be purchased and they will be loaned free to municipalities and industrial plants to standardize the threads. The Fire Marshal will cooperate in this work and the only expense to the city will he the labor necessary to operate the tools, and for breakage. In an unofficial way, standardization was started in An gust, 1929, with one set of tools and the following spring, two additional sets were purchased. Springdale, Pa., is having trouble in making payments on a $13,000 apparatus purchased 1 1/2 years ago.
