Not a fragment of the curtain was left for examination by the Fire Marshal. And while the fire may be of more than passing interest, few realize the precautions taken by the Fire Commissioner to protect lives first, and property second, in places of public amusement. Approximately 1,000,000 persons daily patronize places of public amusement in New York City. Fire is furthest from their minds.
