New York Firemen Fight Pay Cut Members of the Uniformed Firemen’s Association. New York City, are against the proposal of Mayor Walker that the city employees should take a voluntary cut in pay. City firemen received substantial pay increases in 1929 and belief is prevalent that refusal of the men to take the pay cut would force the Mayor to request the legislature to make the reductions possible.
