West Virginia Holds Short Fire School Many organizations cooperated in conducting and arranging the second annual Fire Service Extension School held at West Virginia University, Morgantown, W. Va., July 25-28. The school had a registration of 504 persons and was considered highly successful. The school was opened by John Roscoe Turner, President of West Virginia University. The following papers were delivered: “Reducing the Fire Loss in West Virginia,” by C. O. Stahlman, State Fire Marshal. “Fire Fighting,” by Harry K. Rogers, Chief Engineer, Western Actuarial Bureau, Chicago. “Effects of Building Codes on Insurance Rates,” by E. V. King, State Superintendent, West Virginia Inspection Bureau. “Work of the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association,” by Chief Edward J. Green, President. First aid practice under the direction of George W. Riggs, Mine Safety Appliance Company, and Plummer Pride, Morgantown. “Practical Fire Hose Hydraulics,” by William S. Ratbun, Engineer, National Board of Fire Underwriters, Chicago.…
