New York Firemen Meet The sixteenth annual entertainment and reception of the Uniformed Firemen’s Association of Greater New York was held at the Madison Square Garden, New York City, on January 14. There was a special concert by the New York Fire Department and this was broadcast over station WNYC. The guests were entertained by the Police Department Glee Club and a number of vaudeville acts. Vincent J. Kane, President, presented gold badges to Mayor John P. O’Brien, John Sullivan, President of the New York State Federation of Labor and Fred W. Baer, President, International Association of Fire Fighters. A red signal was set up in the auditorium which flashed all fires reported during the evening in the boroughs of Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Delegates and representatives of firemen’s organizations in the state met at the Forrest Hotel, the following day and discussed salaries, pensions, and kindred subjects. A…
