Employment Conditions of Policemen and Firemen Compensation, Conditions of Employment and Retirement Benefits of Policemen in Cities of the United States ENTRANCE salaries of policemen throughout the United States range from a low of $900 to a high of $3,000. Both Mobile, Ala., and Laredo, Tex., have but one salary rate, which is $960. With the exception of these two cities, only Dallas, Tex., whose salaries range from $1,080 to $1,740, pays an entrance salary less than $1,100. Range of Salaries in U. S. Cities Jersey City, N. J., alone pays first year policemen $2,600 per annum. San Francisco, Cal., has but one salary rate, which is $2,400. YV ith the exception of these two cities, the highest entrance salary in the United States is $2,300, in Bloomfield, X. J., and Hackensack, X. J.. where salaries range from $2,300 to $2.5(X).
