With the Editor And It Happened! This journal has eonsistently opposed the trend in theatre management which permits the presence of young children in theatres unaccompanied by parents or guardians. In New York City, for example, one adult matron is permitted to look after the safety of youngsters filling an entire theatre. The danger is not from fire, but from panic. There are already too many instances on record in the annals of the American Fire Service where loss of life or injury to children has resulted from a thoughtless crv of “Fire!” When this matter was called to the attention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs in session at Oklahoma City last October by the Editor, it was not expected that there would be any early demonstration of the danger of the practice.
