Medals For Fire Patrol Drivers William H. Gardner, Chief of the Underwriters’ Fire Patrol, Kansas City, Mo , recently presented nine drivers of the department with safe driver medals at the headquarters station. In 1934, bronze medals were issued to all regular and extra drivers of fire apparatus who were accident free during that year. The name of the driver and the year was engraved on the hack of each medal. Since that date the medals have been collected each year by Chief Gardner for additional engraving and then returned to the men. Seven hold four-year errorless records. Two have driven to and from fires without accident for three years. According to Chief Gardner, drivers having a perfect record at the end of 1938 will he given the five-year award.
