Chief T. R. Quinlan Retired

Chief T. R. Quinlan Retired Chief T. Robert Quinlan, Needham, Mass., Fire Department, retired on December 31 after 42 years of service in the department, the last 12 years as Chief. He joined the department in 1896 as a call man and in 1913 was appointed as a member of the Board of Fire Engineers, serving until the board was abolished. He was appointed permanent Chief in May, 1926, being promoted from Captain. Under his supervision, a fire headquarters was built in 1931. He built the department into a highly efficient organization and added the latest items of equipment. Just before his retirement he was given a testimonial reception and presented with a handsome electric clock, suitably inscribed, as a gift from the members of the department. Chief Quinlan is a member of the Fire Chiefs’ Club of Massachusetts and also of the New England and International Associations of Chiefs.
