The equipment was manufactured and installed by the Gamewell Company and the city received a PWA grant of 45 per cent of the total cost of approximately $100,000. In consideration of this new system, the National Board of Fire Underwriters has allowed a reduction of insurance rates of approximately 16 2/3 per cent on residential buildings and contents and up to as much as 22 per cent on mercantile buildings and contents, estimated to result in an annual saving of $18,102, with present buildings.
