FIRE SWEEPS DORMITORY OF STATE HOSPITAL IN PARSONS All of 218 Patients Removed. Damage Estimated at $150,000 ONE of the most dislastrous fires in the history of Parsons. Kans., destroyed most of the largest building at the State Hospital for Epileptics, used as a dormitory for the most serious cases of women patients, but every one of the 218 patients was removed to safety. One of the patients confessed to starting the fire which destroyed all but one wing of the three-story ward building. She obtained matches on the way back to the institution from a home parole and set fire to stockings in a clothes closet. Then she ran down stairs calling “fire.” The blaze spread quickly and was out of control a few minutes after being discovered at 5:15 P.M.
