Municipal Wages May Be Adjusted Without WLB Approval State, county and municipal governments may adjust wages and salaries under certain circumstances without prior approval by the National War Labor Board or the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, the two agencies announced recently in a joint statement. Adjustments of wages or salaries requiring approval will be deemed approved if the head of the state or local agency certifies to the Bord or the Commissioner “that such adjustment is necessary to correct maladjustments or to correct inequalities or gross inequities as contemplated by Executive Order No. 9250.” The certificate must describe briefly the nature and amount of the adjustment and other necessary facts and may be accepted by the Board or the Commissioner, as the case may be, as satisfactory evidence of the facts and of the propriety of the adjustment. “The certification procedure,” the statement read, “will not apply to any adjustment…
