Eighty Tons of Coal Consumed by Fire

Issue 11 and Volume 96.

Eighty Tons of Coal Consumed by Fire An unusual fire on the evening of September 13 consumed eighty tons of coal stored in a highway department shed in Denver, Colo. The coal was behind heavy timber walls, which seriously hindered the work of the fire department. Several pieces of road machinery were also damaged in the two alarm fire, which had to be fought by firemen equipped with gas masks, due to the bad smoke conditions caused by the inside storage of the coal.
