Volunteer Dies While Fighting Fire A volunteer fireman succumbed to a heart attack while fighting a fire which destroyed a home in the village of Norwood, New York, this summer. The victim, Stewart W. Powell, 35, dropped dead as he started to reenter the building after assisting in carrying out furniture. Without transportation when the alarm sounded, Powell ran to the fire and had been working for a half hour before he was stricken. Norwood firemen assisted by volunteers from the nearby village of Norfolk, battled the blaze for four hours.
