The centrifugal pump is the most widely used of the three types of pumps on fire appartus. Q. How does the piston pump function in delivering water. A. The piston pump consists of a group of cylinders into which are fitted pistons. These pistons are driven through a chain of gears by the internal combustion with which the apparatus is equipped.
