Chief Harry Carmines Dies Chief Harry Linwood Carmines of the Hampton, Va., Fire Department died recently, at the age of thirty-five. Chief Carmines broke his ankle when he fell while working on a stove pipe at the store he operated with his father and brothers. A few days later he became ill and grew steadily worse. Pneumonia set in. Besides being Chief of the Hampton Fire Department, he was treasurer of the Virginia State Firemen’s Association and a member of the State Fire Chiefs Association of Virginia, Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He was a member of the Tidewater Firemen’s Association and Chairman of the Legislation Committee.
