February Fire Losses Estimated fire losses in the United States during February were $38,280,000, an increase of $5,105,000, or fifteen per cent, over losses of $33,175,000 during February, 1943, it was announced by W. E. Mallaiieu, General Manager of the National Board of Fire Underwriters. The estimates are based upon incurred losses reported to the Board by member companies, plus an allowance for unreported and uninsured losses. The February losses were one per cent less than losses of $38,572,000 reported in January of this year. Losses in the twelve months period ending February 29, 1944, amounted to $396,179,000 as compared with $309,373,000 for the similar period ending with February, 1943.
