Fire Station Burns Fire destroyed the Volunteer Fire Station, No. 12 Building, Spruce Mountain Road, in the Miry Brook District of Danbury, Conn., on July 31. Officers of the volunteer company estimated the loss at $25,000. The frame structure was formerly used by the Danbury Airport and had been given by the city of Danbury to the firemen less than a year ago. Louis Hardy, who resides across the roatl from the station, and is a member of the volunteer company, discovered the fire and saved one piece of equipment. The fire had made such headway that he was unable to save a combination chemical and hose wagon, which was destroyed. Danbury firemen, under the direction of hire Chief John H. McNamara, arrived at the scene at 4:25 A.M. Firemen were hampered in fighting the fire due to the lack of water. The fire station is four miles from the…
