STUDENT FIRE PATROL SYSTEM SET UP IN SYRACUSE SCHOOLS Elementary and High Schools, Totalling 70 in Number Included in Novel Plan THROUGH the cooperation of the Department of Education, Mr. David H. Patton, Superintendent of Schools, the principals and faculty; and Msgr. David C. Gildea, Superintendent of Parochial Schools, the School Superiors, and faculty; the Syracuse, N. Y. Fire Department has instituted a Pupil Fire Safety Patrol system in the 70 Syracuse elementary and high schools. The program provides for a Pupil Fire Chief in each school; a Pupil Fire Captain, and one or more Pupil Fire Lieutenants in each classroom. Selection of these pupil fire officers rests solely with the school authorities. Badges are provided for each officer, and are generally presented at installation exercises held at assemblies at the individual schools.
