Questions and Answers Utilizing Full Pumping Capacity To the Editor: I have a hydraulic problem on which I would like your advice. It concerns a 40-room two-story frame hotel with composition siding and shingles. The closest hydrant is 1,000 feet away with 800 gallons per minute available through two 2 1/2-inch ports. The problem is how and where to place the following equipment to the best advantage, using 150 feet for the length of the working lines. All hose beds are divided with one side for a straight lay and the other for a reverse lay. Engine 1 : 750 G.P.M. class A triple combination pumper with 750 feet of 2 1/2-inch hose on each side.
